Florida Golf Cart Road Regulations
Under Florida Statute 316.212, golf carts may be operated on public roads with posted speed limits of 35 mph or less — but only when the county or municipality has passed an ordinance explicitly permitting it. Golf cart operators in Florida must be at least 14 years of age, and the cart must be equipped with adequate brakes, steering, tires, a rearview mirror, and red reflectorized warning devices on the front and rear.
Operators on roads with speed limits higher than 35 mph, or roads where no local ordinance permits golf cart use, may be in violation of Florida law.
